It doesn’t matter if our works are of a secular or spiritual nature. Whichever is the case, it is God’s will that we see to it that we’re working to the best of our abilities.
Our Creator loves it when we utilize the full power of our human capacities. It satisfies Him to see His children be industrious in that way. Even within our personal relationships, He knows that maximum effort will allow us to satisfactorily experience, abundantly, the spiritual life of giving to and working for others.
On the flip side, there is the lavish spiritual life of receiving. God knows that we can become familiar with that too, if we are all that we can be in our endeavors.
That’s why it’s so important for us to take the time to check, question, and make adjustments to our productivity and/or fruitfulness. For if our works are thoroughgoing, all-out, and, I might add, of a righteous nature; God will definitely bless us with life as it was meant to be. That would be complete satisfaction; knowing that we’re fulfilling our own assignment, planned by Him. Totally secure within ourselves, there would not be a felt need to compare ourselves with others.
