How do we rise above it all to the point of “being more than conquerors” over the temporal; of experiencing what it means to be heavenly ambassadors? I will say that there are at least three things we can do to achieve such a heavenly perspective in our daily lives.
Firstly, it would help to immerse ourselves in Scripture. In this way, there is growth into God’s thinking, feeling, and motives. We will come to identify with His outlook and values concerning everything of our daily lives.
Secondly, sacrifice must be a continual part of our lives. The best way to develop such a life is to selflessly and intentionally focus on the needs of others. This helps to ease our minds about our own problems. It also will allow the mind of Jesus to interact with our minds. Consequently, we’ll then consider others more important than ourselves. Moreover, ministering to others opens the door to the gospel.
Thirdly, be vigilant about praying to the extent that it becomes a need. It is necessary to commune with God. Alone with Him, away from others is the most fruitful of times. Talk to Him as though He were a parent; talk to Him as though a friend. But be sure to listen too. God desires to respond to our entreaties and concerns. But then there are times He wants us to carry out His will on other kingdom issues in order to affect others.
These – Scripture, sacrifice, and prayer – were three significant things in the life of Jesus— our Example. In these ways, He modeled for us the ability to live an earthly life through eyes focused on eternal values above.
