John 3: 13—“No one has ascended into heaven, but He who has descended from Heaven: the Son of Man.”

This verse is often pointed out, especially by worldly critics, as an example of scripture contradicting itself. They say how can Jesus be the only one to ascend into heaven when elsewhere in the Bible, scripture talks about Enoch and Elijah having ascended to heaven?

However, prior to John 3: 13, in verses 11 and 12, Jesus establishes its context by mentioning that He and the Holy Spirit are able to testify about heaven because they come from heaven. In other words, the meaning of what Jesus is saying in verse 13 is that no one else who has ascended has come back to tell of what they know about heaven. He is the only qualified, authoritative human to speak of heavenly matters on this earth due to having descended from heaven.

I heard a preacher say that the church should be like a ship moving on top of the water. If it stops and starts letting water inside, it will eventually sink. What he was getting at is the modern church’s trendy habit of letting in worldly influences and using them to attract unbelievers. In cases like that, the church isn’t offering an alternative. It’s saying come on in and continue enjoying the worldly life you now live.

If a person knows that the Bible he or she is using doesn’t come from Christianity’s traditional mainstream, and that parts of it has been changed to suit beliefs of his or her particular group, how can that person  be satisfied, knowing that the original Word still remains; knowing that God doesn’t change.

Yet, some homosexuals, calling themselves Christians, act as though a legitimate license has been issued that now makes it okay to continue their sexual lifestyle. That supposed license comes in the form of a recently published “Bible” called the Queen James Version.

Along the same line, I wonder how it is that the Jehovah Witnesses remain complacent with their own translated, self-published version of the Bible (The New World Translation) that denies the deity-personhood of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
