Godliness And Contentment Bring Prosperity

Suppose we adopted the attitude that it is amazing to always have something to eat; simply incredible that we always have something to wear; and mind-blowing to have a roof over our heads. If we lived in that attitude of astonishment, do you think it would help us not be so consumed with increasingly wanting more and more? Of course, it would.

Having come into this world empty handed and knowing we will leave it the same way, we should be wondrous and grateful to have our basic needs met. We should be contented and overjoyed too. With those needs taken care of, it puts us in a position to focus more and most of our time and energy on the things of God.

Better than accumulating more material treasure is the profit that comes from the spiritual wealth of peace and love; a fortune that’s discovered from contentment with what we have, coupled with pursuing and exemplifying God’s righteousness in words and deeds.

But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either. If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. 1 Timothy 6: 6-8
