Faith believes in Jesus. So when He speaks – and He does through the Holy Spirit within – hear and do. Therefore…
When the Spirit shows right from wrong, do the right thing.
When the Spirit encourages learning about God, read and study the Bible (alone and in a small group). Attend classes, seminars, workshops. Listen to Christian sermons and discussions. Seek life counseling that’s Christian based.
When the Spirit inspires discipline, make prayer routine. Fast when the need presents itself. Eat and drink properly. Dress moderately. Flee from that which would inflame the flesh.
When the Spirit says to hang in there, determine to rely on the Lord’s strength and faithfulness.
When the Spirit illuminates the nature of divinity, partake of it to see, hear, feel, and think as God does.
When the Spirit urges interaction, gently consider the interests of others.
When the Spirit reveals and pours out from God’s heart, we should open our hearts to receive so that all of the above may be unconditionally motivated.
These are simple things that Jesus teaches, aren’t they? Even children can understand them (Matthew 11: 25). Christianity only is hard when we make it hard.
Individually and taken together, these things simply help us to daily grow to be successful and productive like Jesus.
“For this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith, virtue; to virtue, knowledge; to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, perseverance; to perseverance, godliness; to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1: 5-8,
