A lot of people know of God. That helps, but it’s not good enough. Good enough is taking the time to walk with Him. By doing so, one gains intimate knowledge of Him, as it causes a person to be of God. That would be in terms of outlook, feelings, and most of all, the purity and righteousness of life itself.
Life itself is Light. That’s what God is. He is not just a light, but the Light of life. That’s why He knows all. Light exposes and sees all. It goes into every crook and cranny; every thought; even into the division of bone and marrow. Extrapolating from John 1: 4, in which it’s said that life is the light of men, I’ll go so far as to say that all that is, is lit by His Light.
If people are not walking in God’s Light, they’re walking apart from Him. They have partnered instead with death. They think they see, but they really are seeing darkness that looks like light.
Unfortunately, this can be the plight of some Christians too. So we all must be careful not to fool ourselves with excuses and justifications. When we know to do what’s right, but as a lifestyle we continuously don’t do it; we’re not walking in God’s light, even though we claim to be of Him. Make no mistake about it. In a situation like that, we’re in darkness, flirting with eternal death.
With God, there isn’t any darkness at all. We won’t even see a shadow of Him; for light doesn’t fall on Him. That’s because He is the source of both physical and spiritual light (James 1: 17).
Therefore, whoever walks where God goes will be covered in the warmth of His Light, and will get to know, intimately, what it’s like to be the Light of life. Best of all, that person will never be in peril of getting lost and becoming a fatal victim of darkness (John 8: 12).

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 1 John 1: 5, 6.
