Today is guest writer Lynn Gipson. Perhaps you’ll feel a kinship with her soul as I do.
Shelter Me, Jesus
by lynn gipson
9-25-2012 / Poetry
Days remorseful and remembering
Times of recalling old sadness
Yesteryear’s sins come back to haunt
Shelter me Jesus, from the madness
Sprinkling tears on the face of the past
Memories rushing through my brain
Wasted years of life’s sad longing
Shelter me Jesus, from the pain
Weaving regrets into a tapestry
Threads of silver and of gold
Binding up my tattered heart
Shelter me Jesus, from my soul
On my knees now in humility
Dear Lord, I pray in silent reverie
My spirit cries out for new salvation
Shelter me Jesus, from the enemy
Running towards your open arms
Fleeing from a yonder ghost
Wrapped up in your loving grace
Shelter me Jesus, hold me close
